Zabitat knows that a parent’s number one priority is to protect their children, particularly in the home. Many of us have children of our own or pets who, no matter how old they are, act like children (No, Bayla! That is MY ice cream! Get down off the table!).
That is why we are so pleased that ODL has made children’s and pet’s safety a priority in designing the ODL Add-On Blinds to avoid the types of preventable due to exposed and hanging window covering cords.
In fact, ODL is an industry leader in preventing window-cord accidents by being the first company to receive both the Window Covering Manufacturers Association’s Best For KidsTM Certification and the Parents for Window Blind Safety’s Lab Tested, Mom ApprovedTM seal of approval.

The Window Covering Manufacturers Association was organized in the 1950s and represents the interests of the window covering manufacturing industry. The WCMA sponsors the Best For KidsTM Certification Program to help consumers make informed decisions when purchasing cordless window coverings for their home. And the Best For KidsTM Certification, launched in 2015, was the window covering industry’s first third-party certification program to help consumers identify the products best suited for use in homes with young children.
To receive the Best For KidsTM Certification, ODL’s Add-On Blinds had to meet stringent design criteria, and submit a sample Add-On Blind unit to a designated third-party laboratory for independent safety testing. By receiving the Best For KidsTM Certification, the WCMA has identified ODL’s Add-On Blinds as a product it endorses as safe for young children.
Not only did the window covering industry certify ODL Add-On Blinds, but parents approved it, too. The Parents for Window Blind Safety is a non-profit organization which strives to educate consumers about preventable window covering-related accidents, support families of those children who have been severely injured or killed in window covering-related accidents, and encourage the industry to create safer standards and build safer products. The PFWBS has been encouraging the window covering industry to go cordless since 2002.
The PFWBS created their Seal of Approval Testing Program in 2005, and the Lab Tested, Mom ApprovedTM seal is given only to those products who pass a safety test, review, and analysis done through an accredited third-party laboratory. As an industry leader in innovation and design, ODL’s Add-On Blinds have been certified safe for kids (and pets!) by both the industry and parents alike. And the ODL Add-On Blinds are just one of many ODL cordless products (Light-Touch Enclosed Blinds, Blink: Blinds + Glass, Enclosed Blinds Color Collection, Severe Weather Enclosed Blinds, and Triple-Glazed Enclosed Blinds with Grilles Between Glass) to carry both the WCMA’s Best For KidsTM Certification and the PFWBS’s Lab Tested, Mom ApprovedTM seal of approval.
