Tired of dusting? Annoyed by tangled cords? Sick of your toddler bending your blinds? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, it might be time to replace your standard window blinds with new blinds between glass.
Standard Blinds
When it comes to window treatments, for both functional and decorative purposes, standard blinds are … well, just that -- standard! Standard blinds can be customized to match the type of window you have, the curtains you plan on putting up around your windows, or the amount of privacy and light control you want. While standard blinds might appear to be a great solution for many homeowner's window treatment needs, there are a few not-so-great things about them. For example:
- Dust and Dirt. Blinds get dusty, there's no doubt about it. They take a long time to clean and once dust and dirt starts to accumulate and settle on the blinds, it can be hard to get off.
- Toddlers. Fact: small children love to break blinds. Even though they might not realize, it seems like every toddler we know is on a mission to crawl up to every door and window in their home and use the blinds to pull them up. We get it -- looking outside windows is pretty exciting stuff.
- Pets. Like toddlers, pets have a tendency to ruin standard blinds, only in a less-cute, less-innocent sort of way.
- Cords. Too long, too short, tangled up … there's always something wrong with the cords on standard blinds.
- Swinging and Banging. It's great to have standard blinds on your doors to help control privacy, but when they start swinging and banging all over the place (and getting damaged because of it), you have to ask yourself, is it really worth it?
Okay, that's enough on why standard blinds aren't our favorite choice when it comes to window treatments. If you're looking for another option in how to enjoy the benefits of blinds without dealing with things like dust and damage, keep reading.
Add-On Blinds
You might be thinking … what the heck are add-on blinds? Add-on blinds are a set of blinds, enclosed in glass, that you install on top of your door's existing glass. With add-on blinds, installation is super easy. You don't have to remove any existing door glass since the add-on blinds are simply placed right over your current door glass -- whatever size that may be. Add-on blinds are a great option if you want to eliminate many of the downsides of standard blinds. No more fussing with cords, no more worrying about banging and slamming, and best of all, no more cleaning!

Enclosed Blinds
If you want to enjoy the benefits of add-on blinds but are willing to go the extra mile as far as installation, enclosed blinds are the best choice for you. Enclosed blinds already come ready to go, in double or triple pane glass. That means, instead of adding additional glass to your door, you can simply replace the door glass you already have with enclosed blinds. We love the versatility of enclosed blinds for nearly every room in your home. Check out this post on four places to put blinds between glass in your home for a little design inspiration. Overall, we feel the pros of blinds between glass strongly outweigh standard blinds. Here's what you get when you purchase a set of add-on or enclosed blinds from Zabitat:
