Colonial
Doors on traditional Colonial homes are typically wood, with a two-panel or six-panel design. They are frequently in the center of the home and often have windows running parallel on either side of the door -- these are called sidelights. Sometimes, you'll see a piece of decorative door glass in the center of a door in a square, rectangular, or oval shape. More often, however, Colonial doors have glass accents above them which are referred to as transoms. If you're looking to upgrade your Colonial-inspired entryway, check out our Bristol door glass. It's a classic style we love to add as an accent with this American-style home Bristol Door Glass | Outside View[/caption]Click the images below to open a larger view
Contemporary-Modern
You'll be able to tell if your home (or your neighbor's home) is a Contemporary-Modern style by looking at it's frame. Contemporary-Modern homes are distinct because of their clean, simple lines and overall minimalistic approach to design. The front doors on Contemporary-Modern homes frequently use full-frame glass (both clear and decorative) to create an open, sleek look. If you're looking to add or replace the glass on your Contemporary-Modern front door, take a look at our Entropy door glass -- a favorite among our contemporary styles. French Country
A high-pitched roof, arches, bay windows, gables, and shutters characterize French Country homes -- a popular architectural design for larger homes. When it comes to front doors for French Country style homes, double doors are a popular choice. To play up the old-world style of this architectural period, wrought iron accents and scroll designs in darker tones are also a stylish choice. We love our Carrollton door glass for French Country homes. With a fleur de lis accent, it's the perfect homage to rural France! Mediterranean
Finished in a neutral-colored stucco with red or green tiled roofs, Mediterranean homes are truly one-of-a-kind. A common theme in Mediterranean homes are arches. You'll typically see arched windows, shutters, entryway, and you guessed it, front doors. The exterior of a Mediterranean home is very important -- you'll often see major emphasis put on outdoor living spaces and patios. Kick your front entryway up a notch with our Mediterranean door glass. Inspired by the wrought iron balconies you often see on Mediterranean homes, this glass can transform a mismatched entryway into one that fits in perfectly with the intended architectural style. Victorian
With Victorian-style houses, it's all about the details. Victorian houses are eye-catching and distinct -- they're often painted in unexpected colors and have towers and turrets that are hard to overlook. Their wrap-around porches make great sitting areas and their asymmetrical layouts are smart for folks who enjoy the feel of distinct rooms as opposed to an open concept. When it comes to front doors, the most common design you'll see is a four-panel design with the upper panels being glass. Many times the glass is stained or features craftsman-inspired designs. We love our Grace door glass panels for Victorian homes. They add a unique element of style to the entryway without taking away from the overall personality of the home.
